Early morning was spent trekking in Sayan (Ubud) area. This would be second rehearsal (don’t even bother asking why trekking needs to be rehearsed). We took a different path, went through dry side but unfortunately too much bushes and not really an interesting route.

Spent all day shopping in Tegallalang. Bought home items for sis. She could always use a traditional Balinese fruit basket or lamp shade. So many things to see and buy. Good thing it’s not my house to decorate or I’d be totally confuse as some of them are just must haves!!

Since Monday morning will be another trekking schedule (I’m a trekker!!) I decided to stay overnight in a cheap home stay in Ubud. I miss Ubud.

Ohyes, last note. I missed two weddings! Good thing neither is mine (tongue in cheek). Anyway, CONGRATS to Uul vs. Fe, and Benny vs. Imelda.

housemate without a house

About two weeks ago a gay guy friend asked if I wanted to fill in a vacant room that was occupied by another woman. Interesting. Never a gay guy asked me to share a house. Well, never had a gay guy friend anyway...

I went to check out the house in Sanur area. Quite big, 3 BR each with bath, 2 LR, 1 kitchen and a garage. He drives a motorbike, so there's no conflict of garage usage. The big no-no was the house basically didn't appeal to me. It's strange the way they occupy it. The 2 living rooms were left empty, they only occupy the bedrooms. 2 kids with "kost" mentality rent a house together.

Reasons for not taking it:
- the set up was rather dark, no window
- located near a small hotel that provide call gals (woohooo, don't want to be mistaken!)
- 4 times farther to the office from where I live now.

Just a few days ago, another friend asked me to be a housemate. This time a gal. I told her about the gay's place, we went there & she immediately rejected it. She's so into the idea she promised to get more info on vacant houses.

I let her be. I've lost interest in a house long time ago. Too much hassle. I could use extra space (although living in a limited space like now works well as it limits me from buying unnecessary furniture). When renting a house one has to pay one's own bill (phone, electricity, water) and one has to be involved in community activities. Those 2 already make it unattractive.

I just let her come up with something, maybe she could find a nice house which could be a nice improvement of what I have now. Right now, at least it's nice to see I'm not too repulsive to live with.

silly bugger!

Try combine a computer whiz with brainless supervisor.
Pretty screwed up outcome.

Some of the decisions may be valid as to stop people from wasting time browsing the internet, or chatting with their cousins across the ocean, or emailing people for prospective cyber-love.

Step one was to block ALL access to non-related websites, including websites as harmless as yahoo mail and other email server, blocking all chatting program but skype. It's pretty annoying. Tho I don't have much regular personal email but I prefer to do it web-based and not using office email.

Step two was moving ALL email program to HK server. Now this is totally disaster. Big time. Just too many glitches than positive side. The purpose was to be safe and sophisticated, but as usual, only users know what the need and I definitely need not all these sophisticated arrangements. I'm a simple office worker who's happy enuff working on Outlook.

In fact, I want my Outlook back!!!!

ps. Any of you know who's savvy enough to know how to run down this silly blockage, please talk!!

The only reason the entry gaps getting wider and wider is the only topics I want to write about relate too close to the things that happen around me. The changes in office, the incidents happen to people, frictions, fight, and of course personal struggle, they are just can't be anonymous anymore.

I still write, making notes on my small agenda in long hands (I start to liking it again!), that would be fun reminder in the future. Not necessarily complete sentences, mostly quick short references. I might write about it, but certainly not now as they're too fresh, too raw that might not be wise to reveal now.

Perhaps some time in the future. Like a comment I got from a friend some nights ago as we were having dinner at a friend's birthday,"You could be a good writer." That sentence alone already struck me. A bit surprised, I asked him to be more specific. "Well, you have such a rich materials happening around you." Quite true.

Tempting topics, but is it really necessary to write about a person inside out? Well, I take his comment not just about his royal highness, instead about life itself. Life is a journey, and every person has their own story to tell.

Show me a person who doesn't like a good story??

r a i n b o w

As I turned to the kampung road on the way to my office, I was awestruck by the sight of a long wonderful rainbow covering the office compound like a huge dome. I just had to stop. I remembered I brought camera and as a simple camera would record, this is what I saw. I had to have a record of what I saw.

Couldn’t remember the last time I saw one. Years, years back. I wouldn’t try to read what divine message it may contain, I just know that I missed it so much I could marvel at pictures of rainbow. Unspeakable beauty.

In this part of the world, I wonder what would I find at the end of the rainbow..

advancement vs. DISadvancement

What is an ADVANCEMENT?

Have people working around the clock and making sure they got things done?
Bringing new fresh bodies, doing extra working hours with no specific outcome?
Paying people big money (or management thought so) and not acknowledging that they too have personal lives, ie. are not machines?

If all the above questions' answers is no, but in reality it happens, then it appears more to be a disadvancement.

Results?
Everybody does everything, which creates duplication of work (which can be confusing and create embarassment), ie. inefficiency.
No focus on work. No clear priority.
Everybody gets exhausted, bored, and at the end lost interest in what seems to be more like intellectual slavery.

Then again, aren't we all (if not most) wage slave?

Dream office space.

I don't mind the no-private space, the extra stairs, the higher altitude, and the claustrophobic iglo. What bothers me is the concept of "paperless office". It's not impossible, mind you, but it depends on what you do and what kind of business you're running. If you're an IT person, definitely can, but if you do all sorts of stuff from recruiting, banking, etc, you still need to keep original docs, at least for a period of time.

Smuggling papers becomes a habit, hiding files in another department is the only way. In another word rebelious(?).

A dream office space? Keep on dreaming!

fog attack pt. 2

It's not even 7, but am already in the office.
Another 'attack' of the fogging treatment.

Am not complaining, just feeling extra dozy especially after working long hours yesterday (while it was actually a nat'l holiday!). Ain't life fun?!!

A bit different view when you drive an hour earlier than the regular schedule. More empty, of course, most of the vehicles I saw were loaded with groceries. Then school kids off their way to school ready to learn new things (or so).

I just noticed that a lot of these school gals have similar hair do. They split the middle and tie each of them like that or make a braid. Then some will add a hair clip or 2 in one side or one in each side just above their ears. This is what I would think as "ndeso". A term that used for villagers. Mind you, it's not an understatement, just acknowledging something I won't see back in Jakarta.

Sure is a nice cozy weather here. but I guess I should start working. Ohwell, I really need coffee first!!
